St. Charles Rehabilitation
St. Charles Hospital was founded 100 years ago, February 1907, when four Sisters of the Order of the Daughters of Wisdom, accepted 24 homeless children with disabilities into their care. Much has changed over the past 100 years. St. Charles is now an acute care, 301-bed community hospital. Yet, there remains one constant and that is the Hospital's commitment to its founding mission of providing superior, comprehensive rehabilitative care to all in need. St. Charles remains the region's pre-eminent provider of quality rehabilitation and strives to enable patients to achieve their highest level of physical, emotional and social function. We achieve this by:
- Offering a full continuum of rehabilitative care provided by a team of highly skilled experts who tailor each individual's rehabilitation program to meet their specific needs.
- Offering inpatient pediatric rehabilitation services in your home that include Long Island's only inpatient pediatric traumatic brain injury unit.
- Offering Early Intervention Services for our youngest patients through the Suffolk County Department of Health.
- Offering adult rehabilitation services including inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational and speech language therapies.
- Offering a rehabilitation team led by a physiatrist (a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation), nurses, therapists (physical, occupational, respiratory and recreational), speech language pathologists, neuropsychologists, chaplains, audiologists, clinical dieticians, orthotists/prosthetists, care managers, social workers and, most importantly, the patient and family.
- Offering nine outpatient rehabilitation satellites across Long Island.
- Offering a Specialty Clinic for the treatment of more than 13 disorders and diseases including spina bifida, cleft palate, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy.
- Offering the most technologically advanced rehabilitation available on Long Island.
