St. Charles Hospital Introduces New Colon and Rectal Program: Renowned for their advanced skills in minimally invasive surgery, David E. Rivadeneira, MD, and Jill C. Genua, MD, board-certified colon and rectal surgeons, have brought their expertise to St. Charles Hospital with the opening of the new Colon and Rectal Program.

David E. Rivadeneira, MD, and Dr. Genua provide a full range of consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services involving surgery for patients with diseases of the small bowel, colon, rectum, and anus.

Dr. Rivadeneira and Dr. Genua are nationally recognized, board-certified experts in the colorectal field and offer the latest surgical procedures, including laparoscopic (key hole) colon and rectal procedures, single incision laparoscopic/port surgery (SILS), transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) and other minimally invasive procedures. The advantage of minimally invasive procedures is that patients have less pain and faster recovery due to the smaller incision. Recently, Dr. Rivadeneira was seen on CBS Healthwatch, discussing colon cancer and laparoscopic procedures.

Jill C. Genua, MD is the Attending Colon and Rectal Surgeon at the St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center Colon and Rectal program and was featured in the 2009 and 2010 America’s Guide to Top Surgeons. Dr. Genua has a specialized interest in women’s health issues, such as pelvic floor disorders.

The Colon and Rectal Program at St. Charles Hospital is exclusively dedicated to the prevention, detection and treatment of a full range of disorders of the digestive tract, including the small intestine, colon, rectum and anus.
