Hospitalists man doctorA hospitalist is an acute-care physician who manages your care while you are a patient in the hospital. Hospitalists are usually trained in internal medicine and have the necessary skills to meet he unique needs of hospitalized patients. Both pediatric and adult hospitalist programs are in place at St. Charles Hospital.

Adult Hospitalist Services
At St. Charles, hospitalists who care for adults are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They manage your care from admission to discharge, and order and follow up on test results as well as adjust your treatment if needed. In case of an emergency, hospitalists are on site and readily available at a moment's notice.

Hospitalists at St. Charles work closely with patient's primary care or referring physicians informing them of test results, treatment plans and discharge orders. Referring physicians are encouraged to call St. Charles Hospitalists with any questions, any time. Once you are discharged from the hospital, you will return to the care of your own physician.

Pediatric Hospitalist Services
Pediatric hospitalists are pediatricians who specialize in the care of hospitalized children. From admission to discharge, a pediatric hospitalist will mange your child's care, answer your questions and communicate directly with your pediatrician. Since hospitalists are physicians dedicated to caring for pediatric inpatients, your child will receive constant, skilled medical attention throughout their stay in the hospital.
