St. Charles Hospital Visitor Policy and Visiting Hours At St. Charles Hospital, we strive to accommodate all our patients' needs as well as ensure that patients' rights for visitation are respected. Our patient-centered team of clinicians believes that visitors assist in the healing process as well as provide comfort and support to their loved ones, so we do everything possible to accommodate special requests. In addition, each and every patient is afforded full and equal rights to choose whom they want by their bedside during times of illness. Visitation rights are not restricted, limited or denied on the basis of age, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. In addition to general visiting hours, patients are permitted to identify one (1) support person, 18 years of age or older, who can be present with the patient for emotional support during the course of their stay. The patient has the right to choose and indicate who he/she wants present, unless the individual's presence infringes on the rights of another patient, the patient's safety or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. The individual may or may not be the patient's surrogate decision maker or legal authorized representative.
